Mission: Bringing historic objects and information to light
Until now there has been no way to share the stories of the objects, art and information that have become lost to scholarship. When missing objects are discussed, mostly by scholars in lectures or publications, the information reaches only a small audience of scholars and enthusiasts.
For this reason, missing historic objects continue to come to light mostly by chance. Scholars can pass over things that close colleagues have been seeking for years. Not even the most interested and dedicated individuals know what anyone else is looking for.
Meanwhile, underappreciated pieces of our history continue to deteriorate due to neglect and/or misuse and many are destroyed entirely. When this happens a clue to our past and is lost to human knowledge forever.
Mission: Increasing the public appreciation of history, art history and material culture
Every human society has a need for an appreciation for and understanding of history, art and material culture among its people. Each of us is a guardian of society’s collective historical assets as well of our own. When this responsibility is widely neglected the society loses the ability to recover and understand its history.
It is only by building true appreciation among the public for material culture and the stories objects tell that you create enthusiasts, collectors, museum goers and preservationists. Educated, interested people study, they collect and they go to museums to learn more.
